A Night to Remember

Failure is not an option: At our Clinton Summer Fest & Fireworks wrap up meeting on Aug. 24, Sal Chiaramonte presented this slogan, which best represents the Clinton Summer Fest & Fireworks Committee.

When Mari Lee and Andrew Randi first pitched the idea of a fireworks show to our Board of Directors, everyone had the same question: “Can we really do this in five months?” After a discussion, we decided to move forward with full force. Failure was not an option.

We called upon volunteers from the community, pulling from our Christmas in Clinton committee, and membership. To use everyone’s talents wisely, we split into subcommittees including fundraising, vendors, logistics, advertising, budget, and entertainment.

Those involved in planning this event went above and beyond the call of duty, each putting 110 percent in to every detail to ensure this community would have a night to remember; they did so with great success.

Our sponsors are also to thank; with a list totaling more than 50 sponsors, we were able to promote local businesses while raising funds for this show. I encourage your readers to send them a note to say “Thanks” for making this show possible.

Last but not least, a huge thank you goes to those who kept everyone safe during the event: our Police Department, Fire Department, Department of Public Works, Fire Police, etc.; and also to First Selectman Willie Fritz, who coordinated meetings to ensure the safety and execution of this event would go off seamlessly.

We look forward to making more memories in Clinton and bringing in out-of-town tourists to see what Clinton’s all about. Thanks go to everyone who attended, volunteered, sponsored, planned, donated, etc. to this event. The Chamber thanks them for their continued trust and support of our organization.
