Photography Winners at 2013 Chester Fair


The 135th annual Chester Fair was again a showcase for amateur photographers from both near and far. A total of 85 adult and youth photographers entered a total of 385 prints at this year's exhibition and competition.

For those wishing to look ahead, in addition to the standard categories, we will have two Special Theme categories for 2014: Two Colors Only (a color photograph featuring just two colors) and A Child's Perspective (images shot from waist-level or lower).

The 2013 Blue Ribbon and Special Award winners were as follows:

In Black & White Photography, Grace Carver of Deep River won the People category, Chip Rutan of Old Saybrook won Animals, William Perrelli of Hamden won General Interest, Stan Murawski of Durham won Landscape & Seascape, and Best in Show (B&W) went to Chip Rutan.

In Color Photography, Stuart Johnson of Chester won People, Tim Monahan of Columbus, Indiana, won Animals, Mary Jane Monahan of Naugatuck won General Interest, Bruce Monahan of Naugatuck won Flowers, Sandy Prisloe of Chester won Landscapes & Seascapes, Alix Turner of Lyme won Fair, Jack Rogerson of East Haddam won Youth ages 1-12, Natasha Knight of Higganum won Youth ages 13-16, Sue Hamaty Daniels of Westbrook won "Reflections" Theme, and Best in Show (Color) went to Sue Hamaty Daniels.

In the Special Awards category, Joseph's Photography Award for Achievement went to Chip Rutan, the Devlin Photography Award went to Stan Murawski, and the Ken Kells Youth Photo Award went to Natasha Knight.
