Collections Concluded

The household hazardous waste collections for the southern towns in the Lower Connecticut River Valley Council of Governments (River COG) have concluded for the 2012 season. It was a great season with a small vehicle count per collection, which made for a short wait time and a quick waste removal.

The collections are run by the River COG; the hauler of waste, Veolia; and wonderful helpful volunteers who gave their time on selected Saturdays. The volunteers helped by distributing flyers, posting collection dates, and, on the day of a collection, gathering information, answering questions, and instructing residents on how to proceed through the site. Thanks to the volunteers, these waste collections run much more smoothly and a big thank you goes out to all that helped this year.

Local volunteers were Mike Fanning, Donald Paradas, Bob Sturwold, Roger Parker, Jack Liner, Mary Galiette, Bill Sullivan, and Don Relyea.
