What Civic Spirit and Engagement Can Accomplish

What's happening at the Deep River Historical Society? In addition to a second grant of $20,000 to document Deep River historical houses, the Deep River Historical Society has a Facilities Restoration Fund Drive underway.

Many residents of our town have already contributed, and we extend a sincere thank you to them for their help in painting the Stone House. The board is delighted by this generous support. The work is underway while the weather is shining on us, and we invite the community to take a drive by and see the progress. It's amazing what civic spirit and engagement can accomplish in our small town!

The Restoration Fund continues to seek donations in any amount (P.O. Box 151, Deep River, CT 06417). The job is monumental-and that seems fitting as the Stone House is acknowledged throughout our community as the "monument" embodying the Deep River Historical Society. Our Carriage House Event Center has a reputation all its own, throughout the state, as a meeting place and event venue.

Our goal is ambitious: $40,000. We are optimistic that we can meet this goal-with the help of all those who care about Deep River and its history.
