Has Always Been There

I would like you to tell you about a side of Lori Nicholson, who is running for state representative from Branford. You may not be aware that Lori once worked as a music therapist at the Minora Home and Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. Since then, she has performed in all four corners of Connecticut with her therapy dogs, Mr. Beebs and Sidney. They visited nursing homes, adult day care centers, Alzheimer units, and senior living facilities. Lori and her dogs brought music, laughter, and puppy love to children with cancer and adults with AIDs. The music brought recognition into the eyes of those whose memories had long faded. The dogs developed a friendship with those who had no family or friends. Lori would end every performance with "God Bless America." In time the dogs came to recognize the song and picked up their leashes as if to say, "It's time to go, folks." Lori is an advocate for animal therapy and the canine good citizen program.

Today Lori entertains for family night at the Community Dining Room, the Branford Senior Center, and Take a Vet Fishing events, as well as special celebrations. Lori has always been there for the young, the senior citizens, and the disabled. She will bring her background and her hands-on experience to Hartford.

On Nov. 6, I encourage your readers to vote for Lori Nicholson as Branford's representative to the Connecticut State Legislature.
