Just a Bit Odd

I know I'm not alone when I say it's just a bit odd that the Valley Regional High School Safe Grad fundraiser is going to be a wine tasting.

I'm sorry, but isn't the idea behind Safe Grad to encourage our seniors to go to an all-night outing together on the night of graduation so they won't be out celebrating, potentially with alcohol? In light of that, can this possibly send a good message? Is it at all possible that those who attend the tasting may afterwards be driving while intoxicated?

My senior says he's talked about this with others at school, most of whom laughed about the irony (particularly since so many were involved with DARE in earlier years).

Maybe there's something to be said for good old bake sales and plant fundraisers...
