Come Out and Show Support

Election Day is coming up quickly and even though most Deep River races are not contested this year, it is important that voters come out and show their support for local candidates.

David Oliveria is again running for selectman. He has proven himself to be an excellent and very involved selectman, attending the meetings of various town boards and commissions on his own time to familiarize himself with what these boards and commissions feel are the important issues facing the town in addition to the preparation and research he does for the regular selectman meetings. Amy Winchell has spent the past two years becoming proficient in her job as town clerk and has attended various classes and workshops in order to keep up with the latest state requirements and changes that affect her job. Tom Lindner has been town treasurer for many years and applies his long-time experience as a bank executive to the fullest as he manages our town funds in the best possible way.

Other Republican candidates include Bill Ballsieper and returning candidate (and current chairman) John Bauer for Board of Finance, Darlene Pollock for Board of Assessment Appeals, Jim Olson and Julia Grabowski for Deep River Board of Education, and Rolf Peterson and Skip Routh for library trustees. Finally, Laurie Wichtowki is running for Region 4 Board of Education and she seeks your readers' votes. Laurie is a seasoned Board of Education member after serving two terms on the Deep River Board of Ed. Additionally, I am running for library trustee, a position I have held for eight years.

I urge Deep River residents to cast their votes on Nov. 8. If a resident will be away on Nov. 8, an absentee ballot can be obtained from Amy at the town clerk's office.

Louise C. Cowen
