Doggone Thanks

Thanks go to Dick Smith, the wonderful woman who gave me a ride, and the residents of Village Street.

On Sunday morning, our two dogs scaled our fence (with the help of a mountain of snow) and raced away. Without the help of [First Selectman and police Officer] Dick Smith, who followed them, stopped traffic for them, and held one until we could catch the other, this story might have ended very differently. To the kind woman who spotted me, stopped, and gave me a ride to catch up with our dogs, to the gentleman who stopped and let his parents' dogs out to try to lure ours, and finally to the folks who, with the help of their beautiful Lab, helped us catch the other escapee, we can't offer them enough thanks. It's nice to know we live in such a wonderful town and neighborhood. Only in Deep River! We are so grateful.
