Architectural Heritage Committee Says Thanks

Wondering what all those cars were doing at the Carriage House on June 3? A reception was held there to announce the winners of the recent Deep River House Photo Contest sponsored by the Architectural Heritage Committee of the Deep River Historical Society.

The winners are: First place-Katie Williams, second place-Sara McIngvale, and third place-Jake Wlochowski. Honorable mentions went to: Sara McIngvale, Rodney Mosier, Bess Perlstein, and Stephen Klinck.

A prestigious panel of judges decided the awards, including William Schaeffer, an internationally known dealer in 19th- and 20 th century photographs; Peter Harron, who owns a photography studio in Essex; and Caryn Paradis, a designer with a background in interior, graphic, and product design.

The reception was well-attended and the photographs artistically captured the architectural details of many historic homes in the Deep River area. The exhibition was mounted in the Carriage House by Mark Giuliano of Wadsworth Atheneum.

The committee would like to thank the following people for all their hard work in bringing this exhibit to life: Ann Courcy, Fenton Brown, Jim Hogan, Peter Howard, Russell Marth, Mark LeQuire, the Historical Society Board of Trustees, and our sponsors, Liberty Bank and the Chester-Deep River Lions Club.
