06/17/2010 12:00 AMDavid Schaefer, 70, a 50-year resident of Chester, died on June 7 at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. He was the beloved husband of Marion (Maloney) Schaefer. Born and raised in Bronx, New York, he was the son of the late William and Ruth (Boone) Schaefer. He had been an electronic service technician at Whelen Engineering in Chester and was also a member of the Solar Lodge No. 131 AF&AM Masons of Chester and the Sons of the Desert.
Besides his wife of 48 years, he is survived by three sons, Michael and James Schaefer of Chester and Christopher Schaefer of Deep River, and three grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Edwin Schaefer.
A Masonic service was held on June 11 at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home in Centerbrook. Private burial took place in Fountain Hill Cemetery, Deep River. Memorial Gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1004, Meriden, CT 06450-1004.
