Ready to Make a Difference

My name is Stella Beaudoin and I'm running for the Democratic nomination for town clerk of Deep River. I hope to prove through my efforts that possibility, fairness, and citizen aspirations in this democracy persevere in Deep River and the state of Connecticut. The legal and official integrity of town government depends on the town clerk's duties. Careful preservation of records safeguards the town's history and the most important events in people's lives.

I'm running for town clerk because I have the dedication, community spirit, and proven experience to do an excellent job for our town. My qualifications are: seven years' experience as the assistant town clerk in Haddam, providing me with a solid knowledge of the policies and procedures of that office; serving as a member of the Municipal Town Clerk's Association; holding extensive experience as a paralegal with intimate knowledge of researching land records; 10 years' clerking for boards and commissions-I'm versed in Freedom of Information regulations and requirements; having worked in many municipal settings, I'm familiar with the inner workings of town government-currently I clerk for the probate court dealing with estates, conservatorships, and children's concerns; and I attend classes at Central Connecticut State University and the University of Hartford.

A 15-year resident of Deep River, my deep commitment to our community includes serving as a Girl Scout leader, soup kitchen and park beautification volunteer, and member of the Deep River Congregational Church participating on the boards of Christian Education and Service and as a Sunday school teacher, as well as making holiday visits with residents, providing meals, gifts, and good cheer.

I encourage residents to consider my qualifications for the next town clerk of our very special town and vote for me at the Sept. 15 primary. What we do today will matter for tomorrow.
