Post 76 Earns 13-1 Win Versus New Haven

The North Haven Senior American Legion 19-U baseball team moved to 4-2 on the season after winning one of its three games last week. Post 76 claimed a victory over New Haven before losing two contests against West Haven in recent action.

North Haven notched a 13-1, 5-inning road win over New Haven at West Rock Field on June 19. Post 76 scored 2 runs in the first inning and then put the game away with an 11-run outburst during the fifth.

Mike Brandt picked up the win by tossing 4 strong innings for North Haven. Brandt allowed just 1 run on 1 hit and 2 walks to go with 2 strikeouts in the victory. Chris Tobin pitched a scoreless fifth inning, fanning a pair of batters, to close it out for Post 76.

Shaun Murray went 3-for-5 with a triple, 3 runs scored, an RBI, and a stolen base; while Will Sullivan was 3-for-3 with a walk, a double, a run, and 2 RBI for North Haven. Sal Giaimo went 2-for-4 with a walk, 3 runs scored, and 4 RBI in the win. Tyler Harger went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run, a double, and 2 RBI; Chris Hager went 1-for-3 with 2 runs scored; Ben Busillo went 1-for-4 with a run scored; and Ty Rooney was 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored.

Then on June 23, North Haven hosted West Haven and took a 9-0 loss in the contest. Declan Finkle went 1-for-2 with a double, while Murray was 1-for-3 with a double for Post 76.

North Haven played another home game versus West Haven two days later. Post 76 took an 11-9 defeat against West Haven in 8 innings in the matchup.
