Madison Senior Legion Takes 2 of 3 from Hamden

The Madison Senior American Legion 19-U baseball team had three games against Hamden on its schedule last week. Post 79 came away from the slate with two victories to improve its record to 3-1 for the summer season.

Madison played a road game versus Hamden on June 23 and took a 14-7 defeat at Hamden High School. Then on June 25, Madison hosted Post 88 for a doubleheader at Town Campus Field and came away with a sweep of the set. Post 79 notched a 2-0 shutout in the first game of the doubleheader and then triumphed by the final score of 9-1 in the nightcap.

Christopher Wanat tossed a complete-game shutout for Madison when it blanked Hamden in the opening matchup of last week’s doubleheader. David Antonetti took the mound for the second game and went the distance on a 2-hitter to help Post 79 come away with the sweep.
