North Haven Girls’ Tennis Loses in SCC Semis; Boys’ Team Completes Regular Season

Girls’ Tennis

The North Haven girls’ tennis team took a loss against Guilford in the SCC semifinals before finishing its regular season with a win over Nonnewaug last week. The Nighthawks have an overall record of 13-6 as the team gets ready to compete in the Class L State Tournament this week.

No. 3 seed North Haven dropped a 5-2 decision at No. 2 Guilford in the semifinals of the SCC Tournament on May 24. Freshman Sophia Padro claimed a 6-1, 6-3 victory in the No. 2 singles match for the Nighthawks. North Haven’s No. 2 doubles team of sophomore Chandler Morris and sophomore Samantha Ide triumphed by the final score of 6-2, 5-7, 6-4.

On May 25, North Haven hosted Nonnewaug for its regular-season finale and posted a 7-0 shutout in the contest.

Boys’ Tennis

One week after clinching its place in states, the North Haven boys’ tennis team wrapped up regular-season play with a home match against Hamden on May 24. The Nighthawks took a 5-2 loss against the Green Dragons to finish the regular season with an overall record of 9-11. North Haven will compete in the Class M State Tournament beginning this week.

Senior Ben Rudikoff earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory for North Haven in the No. 1 singles match versus Hamden. The Nighthawks’ No. 1 doubles team of senior Justin Geremia and sophomore Parthiv Patel won their matchup by the score of 3-6, 7-5, 10-6.

Baseball

On the heels of winning the Oronoque Division title, the North Haven baseball team opened postseason play by playing Xavier in the quarterfinals of the SCC Tournament last week. On May 23, the 8th-seeded Nighthawks traveled to Middletown to face top-seeded Xavier in the conference quarterfinals and lost to the Falcons by a 4-1 score. North Haven has an overall record of 9-12 as the team gears up to participate in the Class L State Tournament this week.

Boys’ Golf

The North Haven boys’ golf team hosted Lyman Hall for its final matchup of the regular season on May 25. The Nighthawks claimed a 187-238 victory versus Lyman Hall at Tradition Golf Club to complete regular-season play with an overall mark of 7-8.
