Guilford girls’ basketball alum Jaclyn Daigneault was inducted into the Connecticut Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame on April 27. Daigneault was a standout player for the girls’ basketball team at Guilford High School and went on to achieve tremendous success at Amherst College, winning a national championship as a senior in 2011 and also being named the NCAA Division III National Player of the Year that year.

Daigneault scored 1,326 points in her career with the Guilford girls’ basketball team before graduating in 2007. She earned All-Southern Connecticut Conference, Connecticut High School Coaches Association All-State, and New Haven Register All-Area honors as a senior captain in her final season with the program.

Daigneault, a small forward, went on to score 1,299 points to go with 654 career rebounds at Amherst College, a Division III school in Amherst, Massachusetts. In her senior year, Daigneault averaged 14.8 points and 7.3 boards per game while helping the Mammoths post a record of 32-1 and win the Division III national title. Amherst took the title with a 64-55 victory against five-time defending champion Washington University of St. Louis, marking the first national championship in program history.

Daigneault went on to win the Division III National Player of the Year Award in her senior season. She graduated fourth on the program’s all-time list for points and fifth for rebounds.

Daigneault received her undergraduate degree in psychology and recently graduated from UMass Medical School. She is currently a second-year pediatrics resident at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

The Connecticut Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame induction ceremony took place at Cascade in Hamden. Daigneault attended the ceremony with her father Jack and her mother Lori.
