The Old Saybrook girls’ lacrosse squad improved its record to 13-1 on the year after notching victories in all three of its games last week. The Rams earned wins versus Haddam-Killingworth and Old Lyme before defeating Ledyard in last week’s action.

Old Saybrook started off the week by posting a 15-5 victory at H-K on May 10. Senior goalie Sam Wakelee made 13 saves in net to help Old Saybrook defeat the Cougars. On offense, senior Lily Cody had 6 goals with 2 assists, while senior Chelsea Heinke turned in a great performance by netting 5 goals on the day.

Freshman Ayla D’Anna scored 2 goals to go with 2 assists for the Rams. Freshman Gretchen Kawecki had 1 goal with 3 assists and also won the majority of her center draws. Junior Maddie Beaudoin had 1 goal with 1 assist, and sophomore Amelia Sigersmith recorded 1 assist in the win.

Then on May 13, the Rams played a road game with Old Lyme and claimed a 12-10 win. Old Saybrook trailed by 3 goals at halftime before storming back to defeat the Wildcats. Cody netted her 200th career goal as part of a 4-goal, 3-assist performance. Kawecki had 4 goals and 4 assists in the victory. Beaudoin scored 2 goals, D’Anna had 1 goal with 1 assist, and Sigersmith added a goal. Wakelee made a season-high 23 saves to help Old Saybrook win the game.

The day after that, Old Saybrook was back home to take on Ledyard and posted a 13-7 win over the Colonels.

The Old Saybrook boys’ lacrosse team played four games last week and came away with a split to move to 6-8 on the season.

The Rams opened up their week by posting a 13-6 home victory over Maloney-Platt on May 9. The next day, Old Saybrook hosted Haddam- Killingworth and took a 10-2 loss to the Cougars. On May 12, the Rams played a home game against Old Lyme and lost an 8-7 decision against the Wildcats. Old Saybrook closed out the week by posting a 14-4 victory versus Ledyard-Griswold at Ledyard High School on May 14.

The Old Saybrook softball team took four defeats last week to move to 1-12 on the year.

On May 10, Old Saybrook took a 16-4 loss against Morgan in a road game. Senior Mackenna Cooke went 3-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI for Old Saybrook. Senior Sophia Barker went 2-for-3 with a double, 2 runs scored, and a stolen base; while freshman Bree Cooke went 2-for-2 in the game. Senior Cassie Johnson went 1-for-3 with an RBI, and freshman Ellie Pennington had a hit and a walk.

The day after that, the Rams hosted Coginchaug and took a 12-0 loss against the Blue Devils. The Rams went on to take a 21-7 defeat at North Branford on May 12. The following afternoon, Old Saybrook was on the road to face Old Lyme and lost to the Wildcats by a 12-0 score.

The Old Saybrook boys’ tennis team had three matchups last week and came away with one win to move to 3-10 on the campaign.

The Rams kicked off their week by netting a 3-2 victory in Portland on May 9. Sophomore Daniel Stendl earned a win in the No. 3 singles match, while junior Brent Ling notched a victory at No. 4 singles for Old Saybrook. The Rams’ No. 1 doubles team of junior Mike Kapij and junior Jack Forrestt also emerged victorious to help Old Saybrook edge out the Highlanders.

Two days later, Old Saybrook hosted Morgan and took a 7-0 defeat. Then on May 13, the Rams took a 6-1 loss against Old Lyme in a road match

In its first match of the week, Old Saybrook took a 4-3 road loss versus Portland on May 9. The following day, the Rams hosted Old Lyme and lost the match by a 7-0 score. Then on May 11, the Rams traveled to Durham to face Coginchaug and took a 5-2 defeat against the Blue Devils.

The Old Saybrook boys’ golf team took two defeats last week to move to 1-8-1 on the season.

On May 9, the Rams took a 205-206 loss against Old Lyme in a home match at Fenwick Golf Course. Sophomore Connor Casella earned medalist recognition by posting low total of 43 for Old Saybrook. Sophomore Drew Kulman shot a 44, sophomore Jacob Speed scored a 59, and junior Adam Dower finished with a 62 for the Rams.

Two days later, Old Saybrook hit the road to face Waterford and lost the contest by a 182-196 score at Great Neck Country Club.
