North Haven Girls’ Lacrosse, Boys’ Tennis Take Season Openers

Girls’ Lacrosse

The North Haven girls’ lacrosse squad was on the road to face West Haven for its 2022 season opener last week. On April 2, the Nighthawks traveled to West Haven to take on the Blue Devils and notched a 7-5 victory in the contest.

North Haven jumped out to a 3-1 halftime lead against West Haven. Senior captains Shea Saracino, Sophia Dorio, and Riley Minns each scored one goal for the Nighthawks in the opening half.

Dorio netted her second and third goals of the game during the second half for North Haven. Saracino scored her second goal, and senior Erin Johns added a goal to help the Nighthawks prevail by a 7-5 final. Senior goalie Hannah Sommer made 9 saves to get the win in net.

North Haven is coming off of a season that saw the team finish with an overall record of 1-14. Bernie Pellegrino returns for another campaign as the program’s head coach.

Boys’ Tennis

The North Haven boys’ tennis team hit the court to host Wilcox Tech in its first matchup of the 2022 campaign. North Haven notched a 7-0 victory versus the Wildcats on April 2 to start off the season with a record of 1-0.

North Haven finished with a record of 1-15 in the 2021 season. John Higgins is back for his second year as head coach of the Nighthawks.
