Guilford’s Rowers are Top Fundraiser at Penguin Plunge Benefiting Special Olympics

On March 6, more than a dozen athletes from the Guilford High School rowing team took part in the Shoreline Penguin Plunge fundraiser at Ocean Beach Park in New London. The plunge into the icy waters of Long Island Sound helped to support more than 12,000 athletes of all abilities who participate in the sports training and competitions of as part of Special Olympics Connecticut. The Rowin’ Whilst Snowin’ team from Guilford was the top team at the Shoreline Penguin Plunge by raising approximately $7,118.

The members of the Guilford rowing team who participated in the event were seniors Nicky Amter, Max Petra, Cathlyn Marinis, Moira McGovern, and Will Sheldon; juniors Christian Cuozzo, Ashlyn Garrick, Katherine Hicks, Hailey Hutchison, and Panorea Vasiliou; sophomore Cassie Granata; and freshmen Colton DeBoda, Kiera Dimartino, Tea Hawkes, Mattea Jerbi, Kerinne Marinis, Ava Meglio, Addi Smith, and Raffaele Valentino.
