Rams’ Boys’ Hoops Takes Two of Three; Girls Drop a Couple of Contests

Boys’ Basketball

The Old Saybrook boys’ basketball team played three games last week and claimed two victories to improve to 7-4 on the season. The Rams lost to East Hampton before defeating Old Lyme and Haddam- Killingworth in recent action.

Old Saybrook took a 62-54 home loss against East Hampton on Jan. 25. Junior Aaron Tolve scored 21 points for the Rams in the contest. Junior Ryan Stratton score 16 points, and sophomore Auggie Albert had 13 points.

The very next day, Old Saybrook got back in the win column when it defeated Old Lyme 49-32 in a home game. Stratton scored 14 points for Old Saybrook, and senior Riley Lawson had 11 points in the victory. Junior Bradley Kulmann had 6 points, while Tolve and Albert added 5 points apiece.

Old Saybrook finished off its week by posting a 52-43 road victory at Haddam-Killingworth on Jan. 28. Tolve scored 15 points for the Rams in the win. Stratton scored 13 points, and Lawson had 12 points for Old Saybrook.

Girls’ Basketball

The Old Saybrook girls’ basketball team lost two games last week and is now 2-10 on the season.

On Jan. 25, the Rams played a road game against East Hampton and took a 53-19 defeat to the Bellringers. Senior Mackenna Cooke and fellow senior Ella Hagelston both scored 4 points apiece.

Three days later, Old Saybrook hosted Haddam-Killingworth and lost the contest by a 45-38 score.
