North Branford Boys’ Basketball Grabs First Win; Hockey Squad Edges Out Guilford

Boys’ Basketball

The North Branford boys’ basketball team has a record of 1-2 on the winter season. After losing to Valley Regional in their opener, the T-Birds claimed a 46-41 home victory over Platt Tech in their next contest. Last week, North Branford took a 72-53 defeat against East Hampton in a home game on Jan. 6.

Junior Jack Meehan scored 18 points for North Branford in the East Hampton game. Senior captain Jake Saldutti recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points to go with 14 rebounds for the T-Birds. Junior Dom Langello and fellow junior John Onofrio added five points apiece on the night.

Boys’ Ice Hockey

The North Branford boys’ ice hockey team stands at 3-3 on the season, most recently earning a one-goal victory over Guilford.

After winning their first two games of the year, the Thunderbirds took losses to Glastonbury (6-0) and Hand (8-1) in their next two contests. In more recent action, North Branford took a 6-2 defeat to Sheehan in a road game at Choate Rosemary Hall on Jan. 5. Then on Jan. 8, the T-Birds hosted Guilford at Northford Ice Pavilion and claimed a 2-1 win against the Grizzlies.
