Rams’ Girls’ Basketball Splits First Two Contests


The Old Saybrook girls’ basketball team earned a split of its first two games of the winter season last week. The Rams took a loss to Portland before defeating Hale-Ray for a 1-1 start to the year.

Old Saybrook played a road game versus Portland in its season opener on Dec. 14 and lost to the Highlanders by the score of 43-35. Freshman Breleigh Cooke scored 10 points for the Rams in the contest. Senior Ella Hagelston had nine points for Old Saybrook.

Two days later, the Rams hosted Hale-Ray for their home opener and claimed a 46-28 victory for their first win of the year. Cooke scored 11 points for Old Saybrook in the win. Sophomore Nora Kulman scored nine points, sophomore Alexandra Ling had eight points, and fellow sophomore Sanai Baker scored seven points.
