Rome and Rosado Swim at the Open

Senior Norah Rome and junior Julia Rosado competed on behalf of the East Haven- Cross-Hillhouse co-op girls’ swimming team at the State Open Championship last week. The State Open was held at Cornerstone Aquatic Center in West Hartford on Nov. 21.

Rome finished in fifth place in the 500-yard freestyle for the Yellowjackets at the Open. Rome recorded a time of 5:04.98 on her way to placing fifth. Rome had previously finished third in the 500 free at both the SCC Championship (5:13.01) and the Class LL State Championship (5:06.68).

Rome also competed in the 200 freestyle at the State Open. The senior took 17th place in the event by finishing with a time of 1:57.36. Rome had previously finished third in the 200 freestyle at SCCs (1:58.59) and then came in second place at the Class LL meet (1:54.02).

Rosado swam the 100 backstroke for the Easties at the State Open. Rosado recorded a time of 1:00.29 to finish in 14th place. Rosado had previously finished ninth in the backstroke at the Class LL State Championship with a time of 1:00.24.

With their performances at the State Open, Rome and Rosado scored 46 points that put the Yellowjackets in 28th place out of the 49 teams that scored in the meet.
