The Valley Regional field hockey team stayed undefeated in 2021 by claiming victory in all three of its games last week. The Warriors posted one-goal wins over Morgan and Old Saybrook before defeating Killingly in convincing fashion to improve to 13-0-1 on the year.

In its first game of the week, Valley hosted Morgan and edged out the Huskies by a 3-2 score on Oct. 11. Three days later, the Warriors played a road game versus Old Saybrook and triumphed by a 1-0 final. Then on Oct. 16, Valley finished its week by earning a 8-2 victory at Killingly in a non-conference game. This win marked career victory No. 100 for Head Coach Beth McCabe Powers at Valley.

Senior Abby Amara scored five goals to go with two assists on the week for the Warriors. Freshman Lilly Lavigne had two goals and three assists during the week. Sophomore Carla Shea scored three goals, while seniors Mia Alio and Brooke Lavigne contributed one goal apiece. Senior Caroline Haskins had one assist on the week. Junior goalie Fallyn Belisle made 13 saves on 17 shots faced throughout the week, including a shutout in the victory over Old Saybrook.

The Valley Regional boys’ soccer team improved to 9-3-1 this season after adding three more victories to its win total last week. The Warriors notched wins over East Hampton, Haddam-Killingworth, and North Branford in recent play.

Valley kicked off its week by netting a 3-1 home win versus East Hampton on Oct. 12. Then on Oct. 15, Valley was on the road to face Haddam-Killingworth and defeated the Cougars by a 4-1 score. The very next day, the Warriors played a road game against North Branford and blanked the Thunderbirds by a 7-0 score.

The Valley girls’ soccer team played three games last week and came away from the slate with a tie and two losses. With these results, the Warriors now stand with an overall record of 4-5-2 on the year.

On Oct. 11, Valley took a 2-0 road loss versus East Hampton. Three days later, the Warriors hosted Haddam-Killingworth and played the Cougars to a 1-1 draw. Then on Oct. 16, Valley hosted non-conference opponent Woodstock Academy and took a 3-0 defeat against the Centaurs.
