The East Haven-Cross-Hillhouse (EH-C-H) co-op girls’ swimming and diving team picked up its first victory of the 2021 season by defeating Branford last week. On Oct. 12, the Yellowjackets hosted Branford for a meet at Wilbur Cross High School and claimed an 85-71 victory over the Hornets in New Haven.

EH-C-H earned eight first-place finishes on its way to getting its win against Branford. The Yellowjackets also swam a plethora of season-best times in the victory. The team has three regular-season meets remaining before competing in SCCs and states.

The Easties’ 200-meter medley relay team of junior Abby Brooks, senior Norah Rome, junior Julia Rosado, and sophomore Kate Kim took first place versus Branford by posting a time of 2:08.15. The unit’s time served as their fastest mark of the season thus far.

Brooks, Rome, Rosado, and Kim also joined forces for the 400 freestyle relay. The quartet finished with a season-best time of 4:13.19 on its way to winning the event.

The Yellowjackets’ 200 freestyle relay team of sophomore Alexis Lamprea, sophomore Hannah Adolphe, senior Mackenzie Noyes, and senior Camryn Lendroth took second place versus Branford. The group recorded a time of 2:13.92 to finish as the runner-up in the event.

Rome finished first in the 200 freestyle and the 500 freestyle against the Hornets. Rome swam a time of 2:04.43 in the 200 free and finished with a mark of 5:24.41 en route to taking first place in the 500 free.

Rosado earned top honors in the 200 individual medley and the 100 butterfly for EH-C-H. Rosado won the 200 IM with a time of 2:22.47 and swam a season-best time of 1:03.60 in her butterfly victory.

Kim claimed first place in the 100 breaststroke (1:21.75) and the 50 freestyle (27.28) for the Easties. Kim’s time in the 50 free marked a new season best on behalf of Head Coach Leanne Boisvert’s squad.

Lamprea (31.73) and sophomore Stephanie Velasquez (43.58) each swam season-best times in the 50 freestyle. Lamprea took third place in the event for the Yellowjackets.

Lendroth placed second in the 200 freestyle with a 2:49.51 and also finished fourth for the 500 freestyle, setting a new season-best time of 7:53.84. Brooks finished second in both the 100 freestyle (1:08.95) and the 100 backstroke (1:17.36), notching a new season-best time in the latter event.

Noyes came in third place for the 100 breaststroke with a season-best time of 1:41.73. Adolphe finished third in the 100 freestyle behind a season best of 1:15.83. Senior Isabella Orozco placed fourth in the 100 free with a time of 1:19.43, which was also a season best.
