Westbrook Field Hockey Grabs a Win; Soccer Squads Each Drop a Pair


Field Hockey

The Westbrook-Old Lyme field hockey squad played three games as part of last week's action. The Knights went 1-2 in their slate of three games. With these results, the Knights' record moved to 2-4 on the season.

On Sept. 20, Westbrook-Old Lyme hosted Shoreline Conference foe Valley Regional at Westbrook and took a 9-0 loss against the

Warriors.

Three days later, the Knights headed to Haddam-Killingworth, where they picked up a narrow 2-1 win over the Cougars.

On Sept 25, Westbrook-Old Lyme dropped a 2-1 home contest against Fitch in overtime. The Knights got on the board with a goal from Myan Nguyen off an assist from Halley Pierson. Fitch tied the game in the second half. Fitch would ultimately earn the game-winning goal in overtime.

Boys' Soccer

The Knights played a pair of contests as part of last week's slate, and they took losses in both games. With these results, Westbrook's record dropped to 1-5 on the year.

On Sept. 20, the Knights hosted Cromwell and took a 1-0 loss versus the Panthers. Westbrook fell behind after Cromwell put a goal up in the first half, and the Knights were unable to score the equalizer the rest of the way.

Three days later, the Knights headed to the Indian River Complex in Clinton to face off with Morgan. Westbrook lost a 4-1 contest versus the Huskies. The Knights fell behind in the first half when Morgan scored three goals in quick succession at the 27-, 29-, and 32-minute

marks.

In the second half, Doug Grey put a goal into the back of the net in the 55th minute. Morgan scored another goal at 62 minutes to bring the score to its 4-1 final.

Girls' Soccer

Westbrook played two games as part of last week's action and ended up losing both matches. With these results, the Knights record fell to 1-5 on the season.

On Sept. 21, Westbrook headed to Cromwell and faced off with the Panthers. The Knights took a narrow 1-0 loss against Cromwell.

On Sept. 25, Westbrook hosted Morgan and took a 4-0 defeat against the Huskies. Morgan scored two goals in the first half and two more goals in the second half to outpace the Knights.
