Rams’ Field Hockey Still Undefeated; Girls’ Soccer Claims Win and a Tie

Field Hockey

The Old Saybrook field hockey team played two contests as part of last week’s action, and the Rams came away from the slate with a win and a tie. With these results, the Rams moved to a 6-0-1 record on the year to remain undefeated in seven contests.

On Sept. 20, the Rams claimed a 2-1 road victory against Haddam- Killingworth. MacKenna Cooke scored both of Old Saybrook’s goals off assists from Libby Stuart and Alexa Coty. Kate Molesky made three saves for Old Saybrook.

Three days later, the Rams hosted North Branford, and both teams played to a 2-2 tie. North Branford got up 1-0 in the sixth minute of the contest. Amelia Sigersmith tied the score two minutes later. The Rams went ahead on a goal from Grace Adams a minute after Sigersmith’s goal. North Branford tied the game with four minutes left in regulation.

Old Saybrook goalie Brianna Berdiales played entire game in except the last 30 seconds of overtime due to an injury. Berdiales had six saves. Kate Molesky took over in the final 30 seconds and held off the Thunderbirds in the final seconds.

Girls’ Soccer

The Rams were slated for a pair of games last week and came away with a win and a tie on the week. With these results, Old Saybrook’s record moved to 3-1-1 on the season.

On Sept. 21, the Rams hit the road to face Old Lyme, and neither offense could find a way to break through for a goal. The game ended in a scoreless tie.

Three days later, Old Saybrook headed to Moodus to match up with Hale-Ray, but ended up earning a win in a forfeit by the Noises.

Boys’ Soccer

Old Saybrook played a pair of games as part of last week’s slate. The Rams secured a pair of victories in their two contests. With the wins, Old Saybrook’s record moved to 4-0 on the season.

On Sept. 20, the Rams hosted Old Lyme and claimed a 4-1 victory against the Wildcats. Three days later, Old Saybrook scored a 3-0 win over Hale-Ray.

Football

The Rams faced off against Coginchaug/Hale-Ray/East Hampton in a home contest on Sept. 25. Old Saybrook took a 40-0 home loss against the Blue Devils. With the defeat, the Rams record moved to 0-2 on the season.
