Westbrook Girls’ Soccer Earns First Win; Field Hockey Takes Two Defeats


Girls’ Soccer

The Westbrook girls’ soccer team played two games last week and came away with a split of the pair. With these results, the Knights’ record moved to 1-3 on the season.

On Sept. 13, Westbrook hosted Valley Regional and took a 3-0 loss against the Warriors. Two days later, Westbrook earned its first win of the season in a 3-1 home victory over Hale-Ray.

Boys’ Soccer

The Knights had a pair of games on the slate last week and ended up with losses in both contests. The defeats dropped Westbrook’s record to 1-3 so far on the season.

On Sept. 13, the Knights headed to Valley Regional, and they took an 8-0 loss against the stong Shoreline Conference foe.

On Sept. 17, Westbrook headed to Moodus to take on Hale-Ray. The Knights dropped a narrow 1-0 defeat against the Noises.

Field Hockey

The Westbrook field hockey team played two games last week and losing the pair. After the Knights notched their first win of the season on Sept. 11, they went up against a couple of formidable teams and the losses dropped their record to 1-2 on the campaign.

On Sept. 13, Westbrook took a tough 7-0 home loss versus North Branford.

Three days later, the Knights lost a close contest against Somers. Westbrook looked to have the game under control after Kylie Dishaw scored in the first quarter of the contest. That 1-0 advantage would hold all the way until the fourth quarter when Somers scored a goal to tie it up at 1-1. The Spartans notched the go-ahead goal in the fourth quarter to take the 2-1 victory.
