The North Haven Senior American Legion 19-U baseball team completed its season by playing a three-game series with Wallingford last week. North Haven took three losses against Wallingford to finish with a record of 2-19 in the Zone 2 standings for the 2021 summer campaign.

In the opener of the series, North Haven took a 7-3 defeat to Wallingford in a road game at Pat Wall Field on July 18. Wallingford scored two runs in the first inning and two more runs in the fourth to take a 4-0 lead. North Haven cut the deficit in half by scoring two runs in the top of the sixth, but Wallingford came back with three runs in the bottom half of the inning and went on to get the 7-3 victory.

Daniel Boudreau doubled home Luke Blasi for North Haven’s first run in the sixth inning. Will Sullivan later scored on a wild pitch to make it 4-2.

Trailing 7-2, North Haven tried to mount a rally in the top of the seventh by loading the bases with nobody out on walks from AJ Maggiore and Shaun Murray and a single by Nathan Lopez. North Haven was able to push one run across, but could get no closer in taking a 7-3 loss.

Sullivan went 1-for-2 with two walks, a run scored, and an RBI for North Haven. Maggiore went 1-for-2 with a walk and a run, Boudreau was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and Blasi went 1-for-4 with a run scored.

The following day, North Haven hosted Wallingford and lost the contest by a 7-1 score at Bailey Road Field. Wallingford grabbed a 5-0 lead with a run in first, a run in the fourth, and three runs in the fifth. After North Haven got on the board in the bottom of the fifth, Wallingford scored two runs in the sixth to take a 7-1 advantage.

North Haven scored its run when Blasi singled, advanced to second on a single by Murray, and later scored on a wild pitch in the fifth inning. Murray went 3-for-3 for North Haven, and Blasi was 2-for-3 with a run scored in the game.

Tyler Harger took the mound and pitched a complete game for North Haven. Harger worked seven innings in which he gave up just six hits and walked none. Of the seven runs that Harger allowed, only two were earned.

Then on July 20, North Haven traveled back to Wallingford for its last game of both the series and the year. North Haven took 3-0 loss to Wallingford at Pat Wall Field in its 2021 season finale.
