North Haven Legion Takes a Few Defeats


The North Haven Senior American Legion U-19 baseball team took five defeats in last week’s action. North Haven lost contests against Orange and Hamden and then dropped three games to Madison to move to 2-16 in Zone 2 play this season. North Haven will conclude its regular season by playing a three-game series versus Wallingford this week.

In its first game of the week, North Haven took a 9-4 home loss to Orange on July 12. North Haven had a 2-1 lead through three innings, but Orange scored five runs in the fifth inning and two runs in the sixth to take an 8-2 advantage. After North Haven scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth, Orange added a run in the seventh to make it 9-4.

Luke Blasi went 1-for-4 with a triple, a run scored, and an RBI for North Haven. Shaun Murray was 1-for-4 with an RBI, Michael Brandt went 1-for-3 with an RBI, and Tyler Harger went 1-for-4 with a double and a run. Nicholas Judd singled and scored a run, while Joshua Jasiorkowski had a walk with an RBI.

The next day, North Haven faced Hamden on the road and lost by an 11-1 score at Hamden High School. Shaun Murray singled home Christian Maggiore for North Haven’s lone run of the day. Murray and Maggiore both drew walks in the game, and Maggiore also stole a base. Daniel Boudreau pitched 1.2 scoreless innings of relief for North Haven.

Then on July 14, North Haven took a 13-1 defeat versus Madison in a road game at Town Campus Field. North Haven plated its lone run of the game when Boudreau singled home Murray in the top of the first inning. Murray had a single and a walk, and Harger drew a pair of walks in the loss.

The following day, North Haven hosted Madison and lost the contest by an 11-1 final at Bailey Road Field. Harger reached on a single and then scored on a groundout by Maggiore to account for North Haven’s run. Declan Finkle had a single with a walk, and Sullivan hit a double.

Then on July 7, North Haven took a 6-0 road loss to Madison. Caleb Somma went 2-for-3 for North Haven. Sullivan was 1-for-1 and drew two walks.
