Hanniford Competes for Branford at CIAC Decathlon

Senior Ryan Hanniford represented the Branford boys’ outdoor track team when he competed in the CIAC Decathlon last week. The event, which was held as part of the CIAC’s season-ending series that also included the Heptathlon, Steeplechase, and Hammer Throw, took place at Willow Brook Park in New Britain on June 15 and 16.

Hanniford finished in 27th place out of 48 competitors at the CIAC’s Decathlon event. Hanniford scored a total of 4,164 points on his way to finishing 27th.

Hanniford turned in his best showing in the pole vault by clearing 9 feet-6.25 inches to take ninth place in the event at the CIAC Decathlon. In the 110 hurdles, Hanniford finished in 11th place by running a time of 17.21 seconds.

Hanniford finished 21st in both the shot put (32-0.25) and the discus (74-1) on behalf of Branford. Hanniford also placed 24th for the high jump (5-2.25), 24th in the javelin (92-8), and 27th in the 1,500 (5:41.86).

Hanniford came in 34th place for the long jump with a distance of 17-8.25 at the Decathlon. In the 100, Hanniford finished in 47th place by running a time of 12.82.
