06/20/2021 12:00 AMJunior Rachel Ellison and freshman Madeleine Gasparini competed on behalf of the Guilford girls’ outdoor track team at the CIAC Heptathlon, while sophomore teammate Alexa Suchy participated in the 2,000-Meter Steeplechase last week. Both events, which were part of the CIAC’s season-ending series that also included the Decathlon and Hammer Throw, took place at Willow Brook Park in New Britain.
Suchy was one of 52 runners who competed in the 2,000-Meter Steeplechase on June 15. Suchy finished in 13th place by recording a time of 7:57.27 for the event.
Ellison and Gasparini took part in the CIAC Heptathlon on June 15 and 16. Ellison finished in 25th place out of 43 competitors by posting a total score of 2,766 points. Gasparini scored 2,614 points to finish in 30th place overall for the event.
Ellison posted a fourth-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 83 feet-3 inches at the CIAC Heptathlon. Ellison also finished eighth in the shot put with a toss of 25-4.
Additionally, Ellison finished 13th in the 800 (2:44.60), 17th in the high jump (4-6.25), 23rd in the shot put (21-4.25), 30th in the long jump (13-2), 32nd for the 100 hurdles (20.18 seconds), and 38th in the 200 (31.42).
Gasparini turned in her best performance in the 800 by taking 10th place with a time of 2:43.62. Gasparini also finished 23rd in the shot put (21-4.25), 24th in the 100 hurdles (18.97), 27th in the 200 (29.42), 30th in the high jump (4-2.25), 31st for the javelin (44-5), and 32nd in the long jump (13-0.75).
