Branford’s Legion Teams Begin Summer Season


Senior Legion Baseball

The Branford Senior American Legion baseball team began the 2021 summer season by playing five games during the first week of its campaign. Branford took three defeats against Madison and then split two games versus Hamden for a 1-4 start to the year.

Branford took a 4-0 road loss to Madison in its season opener on June 15. The next day, Post 83 hosted Madison and lost the game by a 2-0 score at Branford High School. In the final game of the series, Branford dropped a 9-3 decision to Madison in a road game on June 17.

Then on June 19, Post 83 faced Hamden on the road and claimed a 16-2 victory at Legion Field. The following morning, Branford hosted Hamden and lost the contest by a 6-3 score.

Junior Legion Baseball

The Branford Junior Legion baseball squad had three matchups to open up the 2021 season last week. Post 83 took a loss to New Haven and then split a two-game set with Orange to begin the year at 1-2.

Branford started off its season by taking a 13-8 defeat against New Haven in a road game on June 15. Then on June 19, Post 83 had a home game with Orange and took an 8-3 defeat at Branford High School. The day after that, Branford faced Orange on the road and notched a 7-5 win in eight innings at Brinley Field.

Prep Legion Baseball

The Branford Prep Legion baseball team played three games last week and came away from the slate with one victory. Post 83 has an overall record of 2-4 in the 2021 season.

On June 17, Branford took a 6-2 home loss to Middletown at North Branford High School. Then on June 19, Branford hosted Northeast and lost the contest by a 3-2 score. The day after that, faced Tri-County for another home game and triumphed by a 12-2 final.
