Morgan Baseball Claims a Couple of Victories; Both Lacrosse Teams Get a Win

Baseball

The Morgan baseball team played a pair of games last week and earned two wins on the slate. The victories moved the Huskies’ record to 10-8 to finish the regular season.

On May 17, Morgan headed to Portland and claimed a 12-3 road victory over the Highlanders. Robbie Zirlis earned the win on the mound with a complete game for the Huskies allowing just two hits and three runs and striking out nine batters. One of the biggest factors in the win was Morgan’s six-run seventh inning. Brady Fritz, Ethan Reemsnyder, Bailey Goss, Dom Carpenter, and Ryan Donadio each had RBI in the frame.

Two days later, the Huskies earned a 12-4 win against Westbrook. Garret Garbinski secured the win on the mound for Morgan going six innings with five hits and four runs allowed while striking out six batters. Ethan Ranaudo throw a single inning in relief.

Reemsnyder cranked a home run in the game. The Huskies as a whole tallied 13 hits. Fritz and Inglis supplied three hits apiece. Goss had a pair of steals and two other players also tallied at least a pair of swipes.

Softball

The Huskies had three games on the schedule last week and came away with a win and two losses. With these results, Morgan’s regular season record ended up at 5-13.

On May 19, the Huskies gained a victory via forfeit by Westbrook. The next day, Morgan dropped an 11-3 road contest against Old Saybrook.

On May 22, the Huskies were back home where they lost a 9-5 home game.

Boys’ Lacrosse

Morgan played three games to close out the regular season and came away from the slate with one win and two losses. With these results, Morgan ended up with a 6-10 record on the year.

On May 18, the Huskies headed to Deep River where they took a 13-9 loss against the Warriors.

Two days later, Morgan hosted North Branford and took a 9-3 defeat against the Thunderbirds.

On May 22, the Huskies claimed a 14-3 road victory over Old Saybrook.

Girls’ Lacrosse

The Huskies had three contests on the schedule last week and came away with a win and two losses. With these results, Morgan’s record moved to 8-7 on the year.

On May 17, the Huskies lost a 8-5 road match against North Haven.

The next day Morgan claimed an exciting 13-12 win in overtime against Valley Regional at home. The Warriors even led 7-6 at the end of the first half, but Morgan would ultimately prevail.

The Huskies saw Lindsay Narracci score six goals and notch one assist. Maeve Madura scored three goals, while Carley Schmidt had both a pair of goals and a pair of assists. Brooke Carlisle and Emma Lindsay each provided a goal in the loss. Marin Stopkoski made 15 saves.

On May 20, Morgan took a 14-3 defeat against North Branford. North Branford held a 7-2 advantage at the halfway point of the contest.

Morgan’s goals came from Narracci, Alexis Shields, and Madura. Stopkoski had 10 saves.

Boys’ Tennis

Morgan had a pair of matches last week and came away with a split on the slate. With these results, the Huskies’ record moved to 6-10 on the year.

On May 17, the Huskies hosted Old Lyme and took a 6-1 loss against the Wildcats. Two days later, Morgan secured a 5-2 home victory over Haddam-Killingworth.

Girls’ Tennis

Morgan had just one match on last week’s schedule and the Huskies came away with a win. With the victory, the Huskies record shifted to 10-6 on the regular season.

On May 19, the Huskies had a road match against Haddam-Killingworth, and Morgan took a 5-2 loss against the Cougars.
