The Valley Regional gymnastics team earned second place in the Shoreline Conference Championship meet last week. The Warriors placed just behind the Haddam-Killingworth/Morgan/Hale-Ray (H-K/Morgan/Hale-Ray) co-op gymnastics team and well ahead of third-place Coginchaug in the three-team bout. In a season that featured mostly virtual competitions without competitors from other schools, this was an exciting contest for the Warriors to take part in and come away with the silver.

Valley tallied a score of 121.20, finishing behind H-K/Morgan/Hale-Ray’s total of 125.40 points. Coginchaug took third with a mark of 33.95.

Several Warriors put together solid performances in their events.

Junior Grace Jacaruso earned 31.5 points for third place in the all-around. Jacaruso came in third on the vault with a score of 8.3, third on the floor with a mark of 8.3, and fourth place on the beam with a score of 7.9. Sophomore Kendra Cika came in fourth place in the vault with a score of 8.2 and tied for third place on the floor with a mark of 7.8.

Junior Leah Frantz took sixth place in the all-around tallying a score of 28.75. Frantz also tied for fourth place on the floor with a score of 7.6, earned sixth place on bars with a score of 7.9, and came in sixth on beam with a tally of 7.65. Junior Erin Ward took third place on the bars with a score of 7.3, while sophomore Julie Hartt scored 6.8 on the bars and took fifth place in the event.
