The Westbrook boys’ basketball team played a pair of games last week. The Knights went up against Haddam-Killingworth and Morgan and took losses in both contests. With these results, Westbrook’s record dropped to 1-9 on the season.
On March 8, the Knights headed to Haddam-Killingworth and took a 60-43 road defeat.
Three days later, Westbrook hosted Morgan and dropped a 69-47 home battle with the Huskies.
The Knights fell behind early as Morgan took a 17-13 lead in the first quarter, and the Huskies poured it on in the second to hold a 32-20 lead by the end of the half. In the third quarter, the Knights trailed Morgan 15-13. The Huskies added to that lead with a 22-14 fourth quarter en route to the 69-47 victory.
Senior captain Jack Naccarato supplied 15 points in the loss, and junior Joe Caslin scored 15 points, as well. Sophomore Brandon Naccarato scored nine points, while senior Brenden Engles and sophomore Ryan Engles had three points apiece. Junior Sam Freeman added two points.
Girls’ Basketball
The Knights had two games on the slate last week. Westbrook matched up against Haddam-Killingworth and Morgan, and the Knights took defeats in both games. The losses moved Westbrook’s record to 0-10 on the year.
On March 8, the Knights hosted Haddam-Killingworth and took a 50-25 loss against the Cougars.
Three days later, Westbrook headed to Clinton to take on the Huskies and dropped a 62-27 match against Morgan.
The Huskies established a sizable advantage with a 28-6 first quarter, and Westbrook found themselves down 46-12 at the end of the first half. Morgan continued to build on their lead to reach the 62-27 final.
Junior Jami Sacco scored 20 points in the loss, while sophomores Adrian Stranieri and Allison Brajczewski added three points each. Junior Gianni Salisbury had a point.
