The Morgan boys’ basketball squad had a slate of two games last week. The Huskies battled against Old Lyme and Hale-Ray and picked up wins in both contests. With the victories, Morgan’s record improved to 8-0 on the season.

On March 1, the Huskies headed to Old Lyme to take on the Wildcats, and Morgan earned a 62-47 road win.

Morgan got out to a hot start in the first quarter to take a 17-9, but Old Lyme battled back in the second in the second to close Morgan’s advantage to 30-27 by halftime. Morgan built on their lead with a 14-10 third quarter, and put the game out of reach with an 18-10 fourth frame en route to the 62-47 final.

Zach Johnson poured in 25 points in the win while Jason Cohen added 14. Robbie Zirlis supplied nine points, and Alex Fratamico provided seven.

Three days later, the Huskies hosted Hale-Ray and picked up a 70-49 victory over the Noises.

Morgan dominated the first quarter to take a 22-8 advantage, and built upon that lead in the second frame for a 38-18 edge at halftime. In the second half, the Huskies outscored the Noises 32-31 for the 70-49 victory.

Zirlis notched 17 points in the win, while Johnson added 16 points. Alex Fratamico scored 12 points, Cohen supplied nine points, and Cooper Galdenzi added six in the victory.

The Huskies played a pair of games last week. The Huskies went up against Old Lyme and Hale-Ray and finished with a split in the two contests. With these results, Morgan’s record moved to 6-2 on the season.

On March 1, the Huskies lost a 56-40 home game versus Old Lyme. It was a hotly contested first quarter with Old Lyme taking the a narrow 17-14 lead. The Wildcats extended their lead to 31-22 by halftime. Old Lyme outscored the Huskies 25-18 in the second half to take the 56-40 victory.

Caeley Ayer supplied 15 points, while Catie Donadio scored 10 points for Morgan in the loss. Ava Johnson added six points, and Alex Kelly supplied five.

Three days later, Morgan picked up a 67-34 road win against Hale-Ray. The Huskies got out to an early 14-6 lead in the first quarter and pulled away in the second to take a 31-16 advantage by halftime. Morgan continued to dominate through the second half, outpacing the Noises 36-15 en route to the 67-34 final tally.

Donadio lit it up with 25 points, while Ayer added 14 points in the victory. Johnson provided 13 points, and Katie Martin supplied six.
