Valley Girls’ Hoops Loses to Cromwell; Boys’ Hockey Squad Drops Contest

Girls’ Basketball

The Valley Regional girls’ basketball team had one game on its schedule last week. The Warriors took a 49-33 defeat in Cromwell on Feb. 22 to move to 2-3 this season.

Sophomore Abby Bradbury scored 11 points for Valley in its recent loss to Cromwell. Sophomore Lily Grow scored seven points, and senior Addison Marchese had six points in the contest. Bradbury also had nine rebounds to go with two steals in the game. Grow gathered eight rebounds for the Warriors.

Boys’ Ice Hockey

The East Haven co-op boys’ ice hockey squad played one game last week when the team squared off with the Milford co-op on Feb. 27. The Yellowjackets, who feature two Valley Regional students on the team, took a 3-2 loss in the contest at Milford Ice Pavilion to move to 0-4 on the year.

Old Saybrook senior Cory Benni scored a goal for East Haven in the game. Fellow senior David Amatruda also scored a goal. Junior goalie Ethan Roach of East Haven made 12 saves.
