H-K Boys’ Hoops Earns Win Versus East Hampton

Boys’ Basketball

The H-K boys’ basketball team played three games last week and came away with one victory to move to 2-4 on the winter season. The Cougars earned a win versus East Hampton that was sandwiched between defeats to Morgan and Old Lyme last week.

On Feb. 22, H-K played a road game against Morgan and took a 69-54 loss to the Huskies. Sophomore Mason Gorham scored 21 points for the Cougars. Sophomore Callen Powers had 10 points, while senior Jimmy McGoey and sophomore Tate Callender both scored six points.

Two days later, the Cougars hosted East Hampton and claimed a 65-62 victory for their second win of the year. Gorham turned in another big performance by scoring 24 points for H-K. McGoey also had a nice night with 21 points in the victory. Senior Tony Giambanis scored seven points, and Powers and senior Chase O’Linn chipped in with six points apiece.

H-K finished up its week by taking a 64-50 loss to Old Lyme at home on Feb. 25. Gorham scored 20 points for the Cougars, and McGoey had 13 points in the contest.

Girls’ Basketball

The H-K girls’ basketball team moved to 0-6 on the year after taking two recent defeats. The Cougars lost to Morgan and Old Lyme in last week’s contests.

H-K took a 48-21 loss versus Morgan in a home game on Feb. 22. Three days later, the Cougars were on the road to play Old Lyme and lost by a 51-25 final.

Gymnastics

The Haddam-Killingworth/Morgan/Hale-Ray gymnastics team competed against Old Lyme for an away meet on Feb. 27. The squad claimed a 134.30-105.3 victory versus Old Lyme at ABC Gymnastics to put its record at 4-0 on the year.
