Westbrook Boys’ Hoops Beats Old Lyme for First Win; Girls Take Two Defeats

Boys’ Basketball

The Westbrook boys’ basketball team played a pair of away games during last week’s action. The Knights split the week by notching a win over Old Lyme before losing against Old Saybrook to put their record at 1-2 on the year.

Westbrook started off its week by playing an road game versus Old Lyme on Feb. 16. The Knights earned their first win of the season by claiming a 73-62 victory against the Wildcats.

Westbrook wrapped up the week by facing rival Old Saybrook on the road on Feb. 20. Westbrook dropped a 54-48 decision against the Rams in a Saturday afternoon game at Old Saybrook High School.

Girls’ Basketball

The Westbrook girls’ basketball team hosted a pair of matchups on its home floor last week. The Knights lost contests against Old Lyme and Old Saybrook to move to 0-3 on the season.

On Feb. 16, Westbrook played a home game with Old Lyme and took a 58-12 defeat. Three days later, the Knights took a 53-28 loss versus Old Saybrook in another home game.

Junior Jami Sacco scored 13 points for Westbrook in its game against Old Saybrook. Fellow junior Gianni Salisbury had six points for the Knights.
