East Haven Boys’ Hoops Wins Big in Opener; Boys’ Hockey Drops First Contest

Boys’ Basketball

The East Haven boys’ basketball team started off the 2021 season by notching a lopsided victory last week. On Feb. 10, the Yellowjackets hosted North Haven and won the game by the final score of 80-45 in their season opener.

East Haven stormed out to a 27-5 lead in the first quarter on its way to defeating North Haven. Senior Nick Furino led the Easties with 27 points the victory, hitting a pair of 3-pointers in the process.

Fellow seniors Ian Reynolds and Alias Ford each scored 15 points for the Yellowjackets, with both players making three 3’s apiece. Senior Trey Garea and junior Hassan Ali both scored six points on the night.

Boys’ Ice Hockey

The East Haven co-op boys’ ice hockey squad faced off against North Haven for its first game of the year on Feb. 11. The Yellowjackets took a 3-0 loss to North Haven at Northford Ice Pavilion.

North Haven scored a goal in the first period to take a 1-0 lead over East Haven. North Haven added two more goals in the second period on its way to a 3-0 victory. Junior goalie Ethan Roach made 37 saves for East Haven in the game.
