Essex resident Davis Burleson recently signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the men’s lacrosse team at University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), a NCAA Division I school in Catonsville, Maryland.

Burleson is currently a senior at the Salisbury School, an all-boys’ college preparatory school in Salisbury, where he plays for the Crimson Knights’ boys’ lacrosse squad. Burleson attended Valley Regional High School for his freshman year in 2017, when the Warriors claimed the Shoreline Conference championship with a victory over Haddam-Killingworth.

Unfortunately, Burleson and Salisbury Head Coach Bobby Wynne’s team were unable to take the field during the 2020 spring season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but they are hopeful that the 2021 campaign will be a fitting final year for Burleson with the Crimson Knights. Burleson has also played with the CT River Ticks’ boys’ lacrosse team.

While he remains focused on having a strong senior year at Salisbury, Burleson feels eager to be joining the UMBC Retrievers in the future. Burleson thanked all of his coaches for their support, including Coach Wynne and former Valley boys’ lacrosse coach George Hudson, along with coaches Jon Mason, Jaime Childs, Graham Rider, and Kevin Klein, as well as his father Ed Burleson.
