The Old Saybrook girls’ soccer team won its first postseason game in three years. The No. 8 seed Rams battled No. 9 seed North Branford in the Shoreline Conference Tournament play-in round at Old Saybrook High School on Nov. 9. Old Saybrook triumphed by a 1-0 score against the Thunderbirds to move onto the quarterfinals.

The Rams recorded the 1-0 shutout victory after having to scramble to fill a hole at goalkeeper due to injury and illness. Junior midfielder Cassie Johnson stepped up to take over in goal and recorded a shut out in the process. Senior Bridget Kawecki scored Old Saybrook’s lone goal to take the victory in the game.

On Nov. 11, the Rams went up against No. 1 seed Old Lyme and took a 5-1 loss versus the Wildcats. Old Saybrook finished the season with an overall record 4-6-2.
