Westbrook Cancels Rest of Season Due to COVID-19

All Westbrook High School sports have been canceled due to positive COVID-19 tests within the student body and/or faculty, resulting in a school closure that will last through the rest of the fall sports season. Hence, no sports were played by any Knights’ teams last week.

The remainder of the regular season was canceled for Westbrook boys’ soccer, girls’ soccer, and field hockey teams. If any postseason tournaments are ultimately played, Westbrook will not take part in them.

Westbrook boys’ soccer had games scheduled for Nov. 2 versus North Branford, Nov. 4 at Old Lyme, and Nov. 6 at Hale-Ray that were canceled. Westbrook girls’ soccer had games slated for Nov. 2 at North Branford, Nov. 3 versus Old Lyme, Nov. 5 versus Hale-Ray, and Nov. 7 versus Old Saybrook that were canceled. Westbrook field hockey had two scheduled road games canceled—one against Morgan on Nov. 4 and one against Haddam-Killingworth on Nov. 5.

The Westbrook field hockey squad ended up with a final record of 2-3-3. The Knights’ boys’ soccer team finished with a record of 1-7, while Westbrook girls’ soccer went 0-7.
