Valley Girls’ Soccer Gains a Split; Girls’ Volleyball Earns Victory

Girls’ Soccer

The Valley Regional girls’ soccer team played two games last week and took a win and a loss on the slate. With these results, the Warriors’ record moved to 4-4-2 on the season.

On Nov. 2, Valley battled Haddam-Killingworth in a road contest and came out on top of a 2-1 decision. The Warriors received goals from Grace Abderhalden and Taryn Frazier. Elizabeth Allen made nine saves in net for Valley in the victory.

Two days later, the Warriors dropped a 2-1 match up with East Hampton.

Field Hockey

The Warriors played a pair of back-to-back games last week and took losses in both contests. With the defeats, Valley’s record dropped to 3-4-2-2 on the season.

On Nov. 2, the Warriors hosted Old Saybrook and lost a 3-2 contest in overtime to the Rams. Valley got out to an early lead thanks to a goal in the first quarter from Ciara Shea, who added another goal in the second quarter to go up 2-0. After halftime, the Rams scored in the third quarter and the fourth quarter to send the match to overtime. Ultimately, the Warriors lost when the Rams put another goal on the board in overtime.

The next day, Valley hosted Morgan and took a 1-0 home loss in overtime against the Huskies. Both teams played a tough defensive contest, but Morgan came out on top after a goal at the end of overtime.

Girls’ Volleyball

The Warriors played a single game to close the regular season. Valley claimed a victory in the contest to finish with a 7-1 record.

On Nov. 2, the Warriors headed to Cromwell where they secured a 3-0 road win over the Panthers.
