Westbrook Field Hockey Plays Valley to a Draw; Boys’ Soccer Loses to Old Saybrook

Field Hockey

The Westbrook field hockey team played just one game last week and came away with a tie in the contest. The draw moved the Knights’ record to 2-3-3 on the season.

On Oct. 26, Westbrook headed to Deep River to take on Valley Regional. The Knights and Warriors finished the match with one goal apiece for the 1-1 tie.

Valley pulled ahead with a goal in the second quarter by Lauren Weigman. The Knights tied the game in the fourth quarter thanks to a goal by Delaney Belcourt. After a scoreless overtime, the game ended in a draw.

Westbrook had seven shots on goal versus the Warriors’ 12. Lauren Horne made 11 saves in the contest.

Boys’ Soccer

The Knights played one game last week and took a loss in the contest. With the defeat, Westbrook’s record moved to 1-8 on the campaign.

On Oct. 27, the Knights headed to Old Saybrook to take on the Rams. Old Saybrook took the win in the match by a score of 4-1.

Old Saybrook struck first with a goal in the first half, and Noslin Antunez knotted the score at 1-1 before the end of the half. The Rams added three more goals in the second half to take the 4-1 win.

Westbrook keeper Tyler Hoadley had 14 saves in the net.
