North Haven Fall Ball Sweeps a Doubleheader


The North Haven fall baseball team swept a doubleheader from the Connecticut Royals last week to boost its record to 6-7 on the season. North Haven earned a 6-5 win over the Royals in the first game and then defeated them by a 6-2 score in the nightcap to sweep the set on Oct. 20

North Haven trailed the Royals 5-4 entering the bottom of the sixth inning in the opening game of their doubleheader, but rallied to score two runs and get the walk-off win. Nicholas Judd drove in the tying run and then Robert Farrelly drew a bases-loaded walk to force in Spencer Mulligan with the winning run for the 6-5 victory.

Anthony Maggiore earned the win by pitching 4.1 excellent innings in relief for North Haven. Maggiore allowed just one run on three hits while striking out 12 in his outing.

At the plate, Farrelly went 2-for-2 with a walk, a run scored, and an RBI in the win. Antonio Fusco went 1-for-3 with two RBI, Mulligan was 1-for-2 with a walk, two runs, and two stolen bases, while Tyler Signore was 1-for-2 with a run and an RBI.

North Haven went on to sweep the doubleheader by posting a 6-2 victory versus the Royals in the second game. Harger picked up the win on the hill by allowing just one unearned run on three hits to go with eight K’s in five innings.

Drew Koval went 1-for-1 with a walk, a run, and an RBI; Signore was 1-for-2 with a walk and a run, and Farrelly was 1-for-2 with an RBI to pace the North Haven offense. Dante Velez went 1-for-2 with an RBI, and Mulligan was 1-for-3 with a run scored in the victory. Maggiore drew two walks to go with a run and an RBI, Judd had a walk with a run and a stolen base, and Daniel Boudreau had an RBI.
