Rams’ Field Hockey Splits Week; Both Soccer Squads Notch Victories

Field Hockey

The Rams had a pair of matches last week and ended up with a split between the two games. With these results, Old Saybrook’s record moved to 4-1 on the season.

On Oct. 14, the Rams headed to North Branford where lost a close 4-3 matchup with the Thunderbirds. Senior captain Taylor Stone supplied two goals and an assist for Old Saybrook while junior Grace Adams added a goal in the loss. Kate Molesky made four saves for the Rams.

The next day, Old Saybrook hosted Valley Regional and grabbed a 3-1 win over the Warriors. Stone kept up her hot scoring streak with a hat trick against Valley. Fellow senior captain Kayla Holt provided two assists, and Libby Stuart added an assist, as well. Molesky had four saves in the win.

Boys’ Soccer

The Old Saybrook boys’ soccer team played just one game last week and came away with a win. The triumph improved the Rams’ record to 3-1 on the year.

On Oct. 15, Old Saybrook hosted Valley Regional and posted a 5-0 shutout win over the Warriors. The Rams got out to a strong start scoring three goals in the first half. Gannon Efinger, Bradley Kulmann, and Nick Rothman all put the ball into the back of the net for Old Saybrook to make it 3-0 heading into halftime. In the second half, Rothman put his second goal in the books and Cam D’Angelo also added a score to make it 5-0. The Rams outshot Valley by an 18-16 margin, and Matt Rothman made 10 saves on behalf of Old Saybrook.

Girls’ Soccer

Old Saybrook had just a single game on the schedule last week and picked up its first win of the season. With the victory, the Rams record shifted to 1-3 on the season.

On Oct. 13, Old Saybrook hosted Hale-Ray and scored a 6-0 win over the Noises.
