Girls’ Soccer

The Haddam-Killingworth girls’ soccer squad boosted its record to 4-0 by posting a home victory against Coginchaug last week. On Oct. 14, the Cougars hosted the Blue Devils and triumphed by a 5-2 final at H-K High School.

Senior Yumi Imai scored three goals for H-K in the win. Senior Kedarjah Lewis had a goal with two assists, while freshman Rory Parri had a goal and an assist for Head Coach Mike Shea’s club. Junior goalkeeper Brianna Nugent made six saves.

Coginchaug took the lead in the first half, but Imai leveled the score at 1-1 by scoring on an assist from Lewis with 23:47 to go until halftime. Coginchaug went back on top with another goal shortly after Imai’s strike, but the Cougars tied it again when Imai sent a pass from Lewis into the back of the net.

H-K took control of the game by scoring all three goals during the second half. Lewis scored from Parri, Imai scored a goal from Lewis, and then Parri netted an unassisted goal to give the Cougars a 5-2 advantage.
