East Haven Girls’ Soccer Defeats Wilbur Cross; Girls’ Volleyball Loses to Guilford

Girls’ Soccer

The East Haven girls’ soccer squad hit the pitch to play two road games last week and came away with a split of the set. The Yellowjackets took a loss against Daniel Hand before bouncing back with a win over Wilbur Cross to move to 3-2 this season.

On Oct. 14, East Haven dropped a 2-0 contest to Hand at the Surf Club in Madison.

Then on Oct. 17, the Easties traveled to New Haven to face Wilbur Cross and claimed a 6-2 victory at Bowen Field. Junior Emily Pycela scored four goals for the Yellowjackets in the victory. Sophomore Gianna Mendez also scored a goal for Head Coach Jake Hackett’s club. Senior Bella Pilato and junior Jocelyn Lucero each had two assists, while junior Alex Castro contributed one assist. Senior goalie Angelina Munoz made eight saves to help East Haven prevail.

Girls’ Volleyball

The East Haven girls’ volleyball team played one match last week when it hosted Guilford on Oct. 12. The Yellowjackets took a 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-11) defeat to Guilford and now have a record of 3-2 on the year.

Senior Megan Gaudioso had seven digs with two aces for East Haven against Guilford. Fellow senior Gia Buonfiglio recorded three kills for Head Coach Craig Brown’s squad.
