The Valley Regional boys’ soccer team continued its hot start with a pair of victories in last week’s action. The Warriors’ wins improved their record to 3-0 on the season.
On Oct. 5, Valley headed to Westbrook and picked up a 2-0 win against the Knights. The Warriors got out to an early 1-0 lead with a goal from Jake Burdick off an assist from Simon Partyka at the 3:03 mark. Valley’s second goal came in the 65th minute on a score from Tucker Burr, assisted by Ryan Silva. The Warriors controlled most of the game, and Ian Silva didn’t have a lot of opportunities, but he made three saves.
Three days later, Valley hosted Morgan and secured a narrow 3-1 victory over the Huskies. The Warriors took an early 1-0 advantage on a Burdick goal assisted by Ryan Silva at the 1:30 mark. Then Morgan scored on a free kick in the first half to knot it up 1-1. In the second half, Valley controlled the pace better, but there weren’t a lot of chances to score. Then 60 minutes in the Warriors scored off a throw in from Keenan Pindar with Burr on hand to poke it into the net. Ian Silva had a good game with five saves to his credit.
Girls’ Soccer
The Warriors played a pair of games last week and earned a win and a tie on the slate. With these results, Valley’s record moved to 2-0-1 on the season.
On Oct. 6, the Warriors hosted Westbrook and claimed a 5-0 victory over the Knights. Taryn Frazier had a big game, scoring three goals to secure a hat trick. Calley also received goals from Grace Abderhaiden and Olivia Baldwin.
Three days later, the Warriors headed to Clinton to take on Morgan, and the teams played to a 1-1 draw. Valley fell behind after Morgan put a goal on the board in the 47th minute, but the Warriors got the equalizer with a goal form Frazier.
Girls’ Volleyball
The Warriors had just one game on last week’s slate, and they secured victory in that contest. With the win, Valley remained undefeated with a 2-0 record on the season.
On Oct. 8, the Warriors headed to Clinton where they claimed a 3-2 victory over the Huskies in a tense five-set match.
Valley took the first set by a score of 25-23, but Morgan claimed the second set by a 25-21 margin. The Warriors took set three with a score of 25-22, and the Huskies knotted it up with a 25-19 fourth set. In the final frame, Valley out scored Morgan 15-11 for the win.
Ava Boyles had a big game with 18 kills, three aces, and seven digs. Emi Bisson had 12 receptions and 11 digs to her credit, while Emma Counter had 21 assists, two aces, and a kill. Jamie Pullin provided 15 digs, nine kills, two assists, and an ace. Madison Neviaser added nine receptions and nine digs.
